Vintasnah: Woot. Is Will online at all?

Rotenh Dal: Will is cleaning off his pale little body.

Vintasnah: XD

Vintasnah: Okay, well, he’s not in game yet anyway.

Vintasnah: Where is Nikhil?

Rotenh Dal: Making Coffee.

Vintasnah: Tell him to hurry up

Thodgar the Poised from x.x.x.230 joined the chat 2 seconds ago

Thodgar the Poised: you can’t hurry the caffine god.

Vintasnah: lol

Vintasnah: I’m already here!

Vintasnah: XD

Thodgar the Poised: No.

Vintasnah: Yes. Goober. Alright, everyone ready?

Thodgar the Poised: Jon’s learning how to see through clothing from a picture.

Rotenh Dal: Yeah, Will’s clean too.

Vintasnah: ...Awkward.

Vintasnah: Tell Will if he wants in on this session he needs to IM me.

Vintasnah: I’m starting now.

Vintasnah: Your characters are currently standing rejected at the palace gates, wet, cold, and seemingly no closer to your goal than you were when you found Vin had disappeared. Something, you are beginning to realize, she does frequently no matter what the cause of the situation. As for this city you’ve only been here for two days and the only thing your characters can seem to gather from the place is that nothing is as it seems to be. At this point your characters are probably soaked through and hungry, but it is up to them whether or not to heed the calls of their bodies… for you are still missing one companion.

Thodgar the Poised: grumbles well… we arn’t getting in this way….

Rotenh Dal: “Obviously.”

Vintasnah: [Rp. I’m talking to Will.]

Thodgar the Poised: glares well you got any ideas?

. from x.x.x.230 joined the chat 3 seconds ago

Rotenh Dal: a sigh escapes his lips and he glances around, his arms crossed over his chest “No, I don’t suppose I do.”

Vintasnah: [[I know you guys are more creative than this. Do keep in mind I’ve got work bright and early in the morning and I will kill this session so I can go to sleep at some point in the near evening]].

Thodgar the Poised: looks at the wall maybe there is another entrance?

Rotenh Dal: “I don’t think she’s in the castle.”

Thodgar the Poised: mutters to himself

Thodgar the Poised: well…. what do we know? other than the fact that she is missing…

Rotenh Dal: “A large mass of water was transported into the room via magical means. It got everything wet, save for the bed. The pillow, however, impossibly was wet as well.”

Rotenh Dal: “There was whispering coming from the room. Vinny doesn’t talk, or at least has no control of her ability to make noise, as evidenced by her giggling earlier.”

Thodgar the Poised: nods well we can assume she was taken…. where did the water come from? how did it get there? your the magic one, do you have any idea?

Rotenh Dal: “All I know is that the water came distinctly from somewhere else.”

Thodgar the Poised: can’t you steal the magic energy or something? like you did with vin?

Rotenh Dal: “If the person who cast it was standing there, and I could catch him off-guard, I could steal the transportation spell from him, yes.”

Thodgar the Poised: So where is there a body of water around here?

Rotenh Dal: “Well yes, the kingdom borders on the ocean.

Rotenh Dal: “

Thodgar the Poised: was it salty water?

Vintasnah: The guard stands behind you guys, still some ten feet away from the gate on the opposite side from you. He hums cheerfully enough, but he is obviously listening to your conversation and wondering when you two shall ever be gone. For he really does prefer the other side of the gate where you are standing.

Rotenh Dal: “Well.. uhm.. I don’t know.”

Vintasnah: [[Lawl. that’s amazing]].

.: :o

Rotenh Dal: thinks back on the water that had flooded the room, attempting to recall as to whether or not it was salty

Thodgar the Poised: well… if it was salty water the salt would of remained if the water dried up, right?

Vintasnah: [[Do you guys decide to go check out the room or would you like to stand around some more, oooor would you like to try and storm the castle? _^]]

Rotenh Dal rolled a die with 3 sides. The die showed: 3

Thodgar the Poised rolled a die with 3 sides. The die showed: 3

Rotenh Dal: “Obviously, these guys are holding something from us.”

Rotenh Dal: “I don’t want to go running around in circles while they do god knows what with Vinny”

Thodgar the Poised: blinks as if a sudden logic cam to him yes… I see what you mean….

Thodgar the Poised: came

Thodgar the Poised: *looks back to the guard

Thodgar the Poised: (what is the gate made of?)

Rotenh Dal: glances back to the guard, this time his gaze scanning the castle grounds for any possible extra exit

Vintasnah: [[Nikhil: it’s made up of ta

Thodgar the Poised: (ta? t & a? WHAT!)

Vintasnah: [[tall metal bars, all shiny and new, placed vertically and horrizontally at the gate]]

Thodgar the Poised: attempts to climb the wall

Vintasnah: [[Rot, from this point of view you can determine that there probably are no other entry ways into the palace.

Thodgar the Poised rolled a die with 20 sides. The die showed: 17

Thodgar the Poised: 17 plus 10 =27

Vintasnah: Thodgar, you feel a burning sensation under your hands as you attempt to climb the bars. Roll a reflex.

Thodgar the Poised: wallllll

Thodgar the Poised: (i climb wall *grunt not gate, or is the wall bars too?)

Vintasnah: [[Okay… let me rephrase this.. the wall/gate is one extended large metal fence, so to speak. the gate just has more intricate designs on it because it’s the entrance, hence the horizontal and vertical poles. Thodgar the Poised rolled a die with 20 sides. The die showed: 2

Vintasnah: [[you are still able to climb the wall, but you have to use the bars for help in order to do that. you still wanna try and climb it?]]

Thodgar the Poised: (erf…. 8)

Thodgar the Poised: (for the reflex)

Thodgar the Poised: (how tall is the wall?)

Vintasnah: [[Twelve feet, the gate is 14]].

Thodgar the Poised: (ok. so I did the reflex save, and got an 8)

Rotenh Dal: keeps his gaze on the gate guard, just watching and waiting for him to begin casting

Vintasnah: Thodgar, you manage to climb up the wall well enough, but when you reach the top most part, as you grab for a metal bar to help support you, your hands begin to feel like they’re scalding. You manage to let go and manage to slip down to earth with a small thud, but there are a few small blisters on your hands where you gripped the poles Rot, you don’t see the guard do anything. He just stands there, hums, and looks quite content to do just that]].

Thodgar the Poised: looks at rot, then the bars, then at his hands

Thodgar the Poised: damn bars are magicked.

Rotenh Dal: “Well you didn’t really think it’d be that easy.”

Rotenh Dal: glances down to the gate, checking to see if there is any sort of lock, or if it is instead worked via crank and mechanism

Thodgar the Poised: moves to stand next to you then holds his hand up, to plane next to the top of your head, then planes, it over his own* how much do you weigh?

Rotenh Dal: “Two-hundred and fifteen pounds.”

Vintasnah: Rot you notice that the gate is simple shut via crank and mechanism.

Rotenh Dal: looks to see what sort of mechanism it is, whether it is a raisable portcullis, a chain opening from one side, or an intricate double door with one crank

Vintasnah: You note that it is an intricate double door with one crank.

Vintasnah: The guard is watching you curiously.

Rotenh Dal: looks upwards, in an attempt to see if the chain for the intricate mechanism is buried beneath the ground, or runs in an archway over the gate itself

Thodgar the Poised: walks up to the guard hey!

Thodgar the Poised: gate

Thodgar the Poised: *waves his hands to the guard

Vintasnah: You don’t see any place it could be in the archway, nor is it obviously anywhere else in plain site. The guard turns to the dwarf. “Yes sir?”

Thodgar the Poised: how come the top of your gate is burning my hands?

Vintasnah: “Hmmm.. don’t rightly know, Sir! No one’s ever tried to climb it before. I didn’t know it did that!”

Thodgar the Poised: what?

Vintasnah: “Honest!” he stars laughing a bit, not in a sheming sort of way, but his laugh instead constitues that of bemusement and wonder. “I didn’t know it did that!”

Thodgar the Poised: what did you say? yells louder

Rotenh Dal: groans and moves to rub his forehead in annoyance

Rotenh Dal: “You’re deaf now?”

Thodgar the Poised: shoots you a quick glare

Rotenh Dal: “Whatever, I’m tired of this.” turns about on his heels, just staring off down the street

Vintasnah: The guard opens his mouth to speak again and then realizes what’s going on here. He throws his head back and laughs long loud and clear. When he’s finally done he shouts, “Sorry! No good! Cnan’t hear ya!”

Thodgar the Poised: I said how come the top of the gate burned my hands?!

Rotenh Dal: How far away is the guard?

Vintasnah: [[Can’t* rather. Lol. He’s ten feet from the gate on the inside]].

Rotenh Dal: “Thodgar, whatever you’re trying isn’t going to work, I mean really!? What is wrong with you?” at the last word, he throws his arms out in consternation, his wrist subtly flicking with the motion, sending a needle sailing out at the gate guard

Rotenh Dal: (attempt at a sneak attack)

Vintasnah: [[The needle strays and does not hit. You realize that it;s possibly because you threw your arms down too hard or too fast at the release. He doesn’t notice the needle though]].

Rotenh Dal: (attack at the flat-footed AC of the gate guard)

Rotenh Dal rolled a die with 20 sides. The die showed: 3

Rotenh Dal: (9… Okay that works.)

Vintasnah: [[Lol. no you did not make it]].

Rotenh Dal: sighs in frustration, his arms crossing over his chest, this time the fingers of his right hand working his sleeve a bit

Thodgar the Poised: runs back 20 feet, then attempts a run climb jump on the wall

Vintasnah: [[okay shorty, roll a climb then a jump]]

Thodgar the Poised: (jump then a climb actually)

Thodgar the Poised rolled a die with 20 sides. The die showed: 5

Vintasnah: whatever floats your boat

Thodgar the Poised: 15 jump 3 feet of height, which allows me to start a climb at the top of the wall

Thodgar the Poised rolled a die with 20 sides. The die showed: 12

Thodgar the Poised: 22 climb on the top of the wall, to pull myself up and over)

Vintasnah: roll a reflex

Thodgar the Poised rolled a die with 20 sides. The die showed: 7

Thodgar the Poised: 12….......

Rotenh Dal: *in the space of the moment that Thodgar sails to the ground, he flicks another needle at the man, hoping against hope that this damned one will work

Rotenh Dal rolled a die with 20 sides. The die showed: 11

Rotenh Dal: 17

Vintasnah: Thodgar you manage to hop off the top of the gate before a large tongue of fire whips out to grab you and pull you down. Your hands still hurt like hell because of the blisters, some of which have now popped. It hurts. Rot, the needle hits. What you wanna do?

Rotenh Dal: Okay, foregoing my sneak attack damage to steal a spell, fishing for the teleportation spell he was using. I also want him to make a fortitude save, after he takes 1d2 damage.

Rotenh Dal rolled a die with 2 sides. The die showed: 1

Rotenh Dal: One damage.

Thodgar the Poised: gets frustrated and starts to storm off back to the inn

Vintasnah: [[fort of 13, you find the blink spell]]

Vintasnah: [[oh, lawl, no nikhil you made it over the gate luv]].

Rotenh Dal: smirks as he sees the man stiffin with paralysis

Thodgar the Poised: (oooohhhh…..

Rotenh Dal: “Thodgar! Turn the crank.”

Vintasnah: you just managed to not get set on fire.

Thodgar the Poised: walks over to the guard

Rotenh Dal: “Thodgar, he’s paralyzed.”

Vintasnah: He stands quite still.

Rotenh Dal: “Turn the crank!”

Thodgar the Poised: waves his hand in front of the guard

Rotenh Dal: “Damnit Thodgar!”

Vintasnah: He does nothing.

Thodgar the Poised: looks to you, with a hard stare this wont kill him will it?

Rotenh Dal: gestures overexxaduratedly at the crank “Turn it!”

Rotenh Dal: “No, it won’t kill him.”

Thodgar the Poised: moves over to the gate, and turns the crank

Vintasnah: It opens easily enough.

Rotenh Dal: steps over the gate and looks at the frozen guard with a smirk “Hey buddy, you’ll be alright in an hour or so.”

Thodgar the Poised: looks around for a guard house

Rotenh Dal: “Okay, we’ve got an hour, Thodgar.”

Vintasnah: You don’t see any. Apparently, this is the only guard in site. No guard house, nothing.

Vintasnah: When you walk in you see that there is a path leading from the main gate to a large courtyard.

Thodgar the Poised: starts to close the gate

Rotenh Dal: glances back at the gate, then to Thodgar

Rotenh Dal: “Rude to leave a door wide open eh?”

Thodgar the Poised: nods wouldn’t want this guy to loose his job. moves the guard to a standing position, that looks like he is still doing his job

Vintasnah: There are large, very tall archways placed every 15 or so feet, solid marble wall in between each archway. You can see into the courtyard just enough to determine that there aren’t any people in there. Or if there are, then there could only be a few. You also notice there there is no other entrance but through the courtyard.

Vintasnah: The guard continues to stand still.

Rotenh Dal: smirks and tries not to laugh at Thodgar’s antics, before he crouches, and moves in the shadows along the sides of the courtyard

Thodgar the Poised: walks casually along the path

Vintasnah: Upon entering the courtyard you see that there are indeed no people in here. The wall that you saw was only a semicircle around the courtyard. The courtyard itself expands into five other smaller courtyards. Make a listen.

Thodgar the Poised rolled a die with 20 sides. The die showed: 15

Rotenh Dal rolled a die with 20 sides. The die showed: 10

Rotenh Dal: 9

Thodgar the Poised: 24

Vintasnah: Thodgar you notice that the path that leads through the center of the courtyard looks like the bigger entrance, probably leading to the actual palace doors, but you hear from the farthest archway on your right female voices. You can distinguish that there are lots of them, and that they are all attempting to talk in hushed tones but not doing a well enough job of it.

Thodgar the Poised: hey rot… if your there, follow me. heads toward the voices

Rotenh Dal: nods a silent affirmative, as he follows the unsubtle dwarf *

Vintasnah: Thodgar as you near the entrance you hear the female voices getting louder and can distinguish giggling here and there. When you reach the entrance you see about 60 or so woman sporadically placed throughout the courtyard, all finely dressed in silks and satins. The air is permeated with the scent of different flowers and perfumes. Small pools of water house the occasional naked female bathing in plain site, and often whispering to clothed counterparts on dry land nearby. It is at this point that you realize if a harem looked like anything, this was probably it. Most of the woman by now have seen you either coming up to the entrance or just as you reach it. They are all eyeballing you intently, some looking more concerned than others.

Thodgar the Poised: *smiles and blushes oh… im sorry ladies…. I didn’t mean to intrude…. but I am looking for a small girl, with silver hair… have you seen her?

Vintasnah: The woman nearest the entrance had, as you entered, been reclining on a small throw overlooking the other events gong on in the courtyard. You can assume that she’s probably the senior here, though it does not show in her features. She stands up and coming towards you peers at you gravely, her green eyes seemingly attempting to pierce you. “No girl of that description has been brought here. All of the kings adopted are here as you see them.”

Thodgar the Poised: oh… well… looks bashful, and sad I can’t find her….

Vintasnah: She smiles down at you, somewhat out of pity. “I can assure you, Sir. No girl has been rescued from the streets for quite a few seasons yet.”

Rotenh Dal: takes advantage of the fact that all eyes are on the dwarf, he drifts from shadow to shadow, his eyes scanning over all the women in meticulous order from his hidden spots, making damn sure that Vinny isn’t around

Thodgar the Poised: ... damnit…. you see, we think she was kidnapped. because she’s a mute, and there was talking in her room, and then her room flooded, but it was on the second floor…. and now she is nowhere to be found.

Vintasnah: Rot, you do not see her. So far, the lack of a Vin corroberate the woman’s story.

Rotenh Dal: out of sheer curiosity, he begins looking around to see if there are any paintings on the walls, and also checks to see if there is any trend in the sort of girls who become “adopted”

Vintasnah: The woman looks down at you her face set in a curious expression, “That is quite strange, Sir, but, she is not here. Marianna was the last girl found on the street. She was quite gaunt then, but as you can see she is now quite lovely. And the King never sees us, so I can assure you that she is not there either.”

Vintasnah: Rot, you notice that all the girls are actually quite average looking women. There is nothing special or unique about them. Aside from this there is nothing else similar in their features. They all range from tall to short, thin to fat, young to mid twenties. No paintings on the walls either.”

Thodgar the Poised: oh… ok… looks to all of the women none of you have ever seen the king?

Rotenh Dal: nods and drops back into the shadows, turning now, to guard the Dwarf’s back from any one coming towards the harem

Thodgar the Poised from x.x.x.230 joined the chat 2 seconds ago

Vintasnah: All the girls paying attention shake their heads, some giggling. The woman in front of you smiles quite brightly at you now. “No. Not at all. These women were brought here because they were poor and starving, found wandering the streets with no family. The king takes them in and adopts them. You see the king keeps quite to himself, but, I imagine it is the sound of young happy women that he enjoys hearing eachoing through the kingdom. And of course, the kindness of his heart brings him to take in these poor girls.”

Thodgar the Poised: but none of you have seen him? like face to face?

Vintasnah: “He never calls on us…” one of the girls says.

Vintasnah: The woman in front of you quirks a brow. “Not even his servants have ever seen him… or the kings before that.” She eyes you suspiciously now.

Thodgar the Poised: what about the prince?

Vintasnah: The woman laughs a bit, “No. The Prince must be kept in hiding from the sight of mortal eyes. When the king passes the Prince will carry on in his father’s place and he will chose a bride. She must then be blessed with a special sight so that she might look upon him without being engulfed,”

Thodgar the Poised: oh thats right. cuz he is too ugly to be seen by anything but a god or something right? asks innocently

Vintasnah: She looks mortified. “No! it is not that! Our King and prince are direct descendents of the God of Flame! Though their mothers have all been human, there is one trait that remains in all the descendents and it is a holy flame!”

Thodgar the Poised: sheilds away from her outrage im sorry! I didn’t know!

Vintasnah: She appears more calm as you shy away from her. “I am sorry. But it is of our King and future king of which you speak… Now, I think it is best that you leave here.”

Thodgar the Poised: oh ok… which way is the palace? I dont want to go that way…

Vintasnah: “i do believe if you exit this archway and contune straight on from the way you entered, since I imagine you did not enter here from king’s courtyard, you will find your way out.

Thodgar the Poised: smiles ok! have a good night! turns and walks back from whence he came

Vintasnah: She watches after you for a moment and abruptly turns back into the courtyard when a slight eruption of giggles comes spilling out of the harem.

Rotenh Dal: leans up against the wall, and listen to the giggling girls for any substance to their conversations

Thodgar the Poised: walks back to the center courtyard

Vintasnah: You gather that it has been a long time since the girls laid eyes on any man aside from the guards. You pick up little bits of conversations about “the good looking guards”, “the stranger who just left” and random, useless tidbits of information shared between girls.

Rotenh Dal: sighs and moves off to sneak after his companion

Vintasnah: [[Where to now gents?]]

Rotenh Dal: ((How long has it been?))

Vintasnah: i’m gonna say about half an hour

Rotenh Dal: “Hey Thodgar, you as curious as I am about this god stuff?”

Thodgar the Poised: nods and jumps a little at your appearance yeah… looks toward the wider main path to the palaace

Rotenh Dal: “Start on the way, I’m going to drop by our friend really quick.” after finishing his words, he slips back into the shadows, and makes a b-line for gate guard

Thodgar the Poised: starts walking along the path to the palace, humming quietly

Vintasnah: Thodgar you enter a small, but good sized courtyard and directly in front of you there is only one entrance. Two large double doors, under another archway.

Vintasnah: Rot, he’s still there.

Rotenh Dal: rushes over to him, and flicks his finger against his shoulder, he takes the energies of another spell from the man, this time fishing for Suggestion.

Rotenh Dal: *

Vintasnah: does not has it

Rotenh Dal: Ouch, what do I get then?

Vintasnah: your mom

Thodgar the Poised: (wait…. when did summon ogre become a spell?)

Vintasnah: [just now! lol. you get knock

Vintasnah: ]

Rotenh Dal: “Your boss is going to be pissed at you man, pissed.” *turns and bolts after Thodgar

Vintasnah: he, uh, lays still at you.

Thodgar the Poised: moves to open the doors

Vintasnah: They open, quite silently. They appear heavier than they feel when you push on them. You see a large empty hall with a pale white limestone floor, marble pillars paralleling each other down the hallway. The walls have large murals painted on them of large fire storms regining down on cities and a large man hia figure so bright that his feautres cannot be made clear, leading the way for armies, seemingly calling down the fire from the skies.

Thodgar the Poised: studies the walls intently as he walks through the hall

Vintasnah: You also notice that, you’ve walked through most of the front of this palace and you’ve yet to run into anyone aside from the one guard at the gate and the group of women.

Vintasnah: Its seems a bit odd to you.

Thodgar the Poised: (your a mind reader or something)

Vintasnah: your mom

Vintasnah: [[oh lawl, wait, i’m gonna change that to a “that’s what she said” joke]

Rotenh Dal: falls into pace beside Thodgar, breathing a bit heavily after the stress of the sprint, he looks around the various murals, leaning down to Thodgar, and pointing to the one of the bright man leading the army

Thodgar the Poised: (ILY!)

Rotenh Dal: “At least we’ll know if he’s coming down the hall, it’ll be too bright to miss.”

Vintasnah: [anytime. _^]

Thodgar the Poised: chuckles yeah.

Rotenh Dal: goes left

Vintasnah: You meet the wall.

Rotenh Dal: goes left twice more

Vintasnah: you meet the opposite wall

Thodgar the Poised: looks akwardly at you, and continues walking

Rotenh Dal: goes left one last time, and follows Thodgar

Thodgar the Poised: don’t you think its stange, that all we have seen is one guard, and like 60 half-naked women?

Vintasnah: And you both make it to the set of double doors at the end of the hallway

Rotenh Dal: “Well to be fair, he was a damn good guard. We were just a damn lot better.

Rotenh Dal: “

Vintasnah: And that is also where I end this session.

Vintasnah: ^_

Vintasnah: damn, i meant to end it before you said something. thanks for being on the ball. Xp

Vintasnah: lol

Thodgar the Poised: woot! coffee coffee coffee…. HOTDAWG! mustard.

Vintasnah: XD

Vintasnah: I shower and sleep now. Love you guys! Was it okay?

Rotenh Dal: It was good, now stop typing so I can copy.

Vintasnah: yooooooooooooooooooooooooour MOM
